The LMAC Field
LMAC facility contains a 50' X 600' Blacktop Runway, a 75' X 600' Grass
Runway, 2- 160' Control Line circles (one is blacktop). There is
also a 30’ X 40’ shelter structure, 4 covered pit areas, picnic tables,
trash barrels, and a PortaPottie for the comfort of the members and
visitors. Extending the Runway and other improvements to the
field are in the planning stages. Once inside the flying site a
2400' blacktop road leads from the Landfill road to the gravel parking
area. There is a gate at Rockwell Road (the 1-64 service road),
There is also a locked gate at the entrance to the Flying Site, and
this gate is always locked & can only be accessed if you are an
LMAC member.
Directions
The Lexington Land Fill Flying Site (yet to be named). From
Lexington, take 1-64 east to the BLUEGRASS STATION (Exit 87), first
exit east of 1-75 1 -64 split, at the top of ramp turn left, proceed
across the interstate bridge, go past the interstate on ramp,
immediately past the ramp is Rockwell Road to the right. It
almost appears to be the interstate service road, follow that east to
the landfill entrance, you will see a gated road (approximately 1
mile. This road is locked when the landfill is closed, this is
why arrangements should be made prior to coming out. Once someone
takes you through the gate you proceed to the LMAC Field entrance on
the right (about 1 mile on the landfill road). Enter that gate
and follow the Blacktop Road to the actual flying site. While at
the flying site please enjoy yourself, but please stay behind the
spectator fence for your safety
