LMAC FACTS
The Lexington Model Airplane Club (LMAC) was
chartered
by the Academy of Model Aeronautics, Inc. (AMA) in 1959 and has been in
continuous operation since that time. The club maintains a membership
of approximately 170 members, conducts monthly meetings and yearly
elections. Membership
is open to anyone with a desire to pursue the hobby of model aviation.
The
club conducts Radio Control and U-Control flying of miniature aircraft
at
a field located adjacent to the Lexington Land Fill. The facility
contains
a50’ X 600’ blacktop runway and two 160’ Control Line circles, one
blacktop
and one grass. There is also a 30’ X 40’ shelter structure, picnic
tables,
trash barrels, and a PortaPottie for the comfort of the members and
visitors.
These facilities are behind locked gates on Hedger Road (the land fill
road)
and can only be accessed if you are a member of LMAC. If you wish to
visit
the facility, you may contact X-Cell Models or Hobbytown to arrange for
a
member to escort you.
