 AMA Club Charter #318 - Lexington, KY - Established in 1959  



         The Lexington Model Airplane Club (LMAC) was formed in 1959 by a group of control line model airplane enthusiasts.  It  is chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics, Inc. (AMA).  The club has approximately 120 members,  hosts 8 flying events and Swap Meet each year.   Membership is open to any one with a desire to pursue the hobby of model aviation.    The club conducts radio control model aircraft flying and control line model aircraft flying at our club airfield located about 8 miles East of Lexington, Kentucky near I-64 Exit 87.  The facility consists of a 650 ft. by 50 ft. blacktop main runway, a 650 ft by 60 ft. grass parallel runway, a 350 ft by 60 ft grass cross runway and a 160 ft diameter blacktop control line circle.  In addition, we have a 30 ft by 40 ft shelter with electric service, picnic tables, portable restroom facilities and camping area with 220v  hookups for RVs.    You are welcome to visit the airfield for us to show you what our hobby is all about.  You are encouraged to contact us, if you want more information or wish to make arrangements to visit the airfield.

--  LMAC Club Meeting - Thursday, Feb 9th at 7:00 PM in Bldg 29, Room 5, VA Medical Center, 2250 Leestown Rd, Lexington, KY    General public is invited to this business meeting.   
Directions to Meeting location:     Drive in the East Entrance to VA property.  Go straight, keeping all buildings to your right.  After passing the large bldg on your right (Bldg 4), proceed about 100 yards, make a right turn into the BIG parking lot. Then proceed straight ahead to the Bldg 29.  Enter the entrance door marked, "Entrance Bldg 16 and 29". Go inside and turn left, proceed to end of hall.  Then turn right and proceed straight in to Room 5.

--  Winter Indoor Fly - Tates Creek Presbyterian Church Gym - All Invited !!
Tates Creek Presbyterian Church, 3900 Rapid Run Rd borders Man-O-War Blvd in South Lexington. From the church parking lot, enter the gym lobby which is the building located to the right of the main church building.  Wear Tennis shoes.  A donations will be collected as a gift to the church for keeping the gym open for our use.  Jim Jackson is the event coordinator.  The flying schedule is posted below and updated here, periodically.

--   LMAC Pilots Compete in Top Gun 2011 Competition:   The 2011 Top Gun Contest was held Apr 27 - May 1 at Paradise Field, Lakeland, Florida. Contestants were scored on their aircraft's static appearance and 4 flights.  PJ Ash brought home a 5th Place trophy in  Pro-Am Pro Class by flying a Meister-Scale P-47 aircraft which was built by Wayne Fussle of Solo Props.  Patrick Ash flew his Top Flite P-47 "Georgia Peach II" to a 12th place finish in Pro-Am Sportsman class.  Congratulations to these pilots on their accomplishments.
